How a run plays
A run is a string of turns. Each turn you build, then your village fights on its own.
-
Build
Each turn brings gold and four cards from your deck. Place buildings on your 19 hexes, send citizens to settle new land or work inside, and buy a building again to raise it, up to level 3.
-
Your village
A ghost
Fight
Press Fight and your village takes on a ghost: another player's village, saved at the same turn of their run, from your league. Nobody has to be online, so you play whenever you like.
-
Watch
Once the battle starts, nobody gives orders. Warriors charge, towers shoot, wolves run and a fire giant rises. Then you rebuild for the next turn.
Ten wins take the run. Lose five battles and it ends, and a fresh village begins. On turns 1, 5, 9 and 13, wild beasts attack instead: wolves, then a bear, then a giant.
Collect cards, build your deck
More than twenty buildings to find, from the common Barracks to Kolbrandr, a legendary fire giant who rises from the ashes. Your deck holds 8 to 24 cards, and every turn deals from it.
Barracks
Berserker Hall
Hirdborg
Kolbrandr
Wyvern Roost
Valgrind
Stone Golem
Climb the leagues
Runs with five or more wins count. Your third one takes you into the Bronze League, and rating carries you on to Silver and Gold.
Open packs
Reaching a league for the first time, and your third winning run each day, give you a pack of two new cards.
Start with the story
Your longship lands on a wooded island where someone is calling for help. Help the woodcutters, hold off Jarl Hakon's camps, then find a mast and a shipwright to sail on. Each mission is a short run with a hand-made island and foes.
-
Mast from the Mist
At dawn the mist casts a strange wreck ashore, and its mast is whole. Bjarni the Greedy's scavengers want it too.
-
Nets and the Wyvern
The fishermen will help haul the mast if you drive off the young wyvern that burns their nets.
-
The Stolen Shipwright
You have a mast but no one to raise it: Jarl Hakon has carried off the island's only shipwright.
